The number of topics being discussed in Circle of Moms is amazing! As fast as they ask questions, other moms provide answers. With the holiday season upon us once discussion caught my attention:
What is the best way to have a Christmas tree with a toddler in the house? And how do you keep little fingers from opening gifts?
Here are some of the best ideas:
- use unbreakable ornaments
- put stuffed ornaments at the bottom within the child’s reach
- one mom is going to decorate her tree with Christmas cards!
- put a fence or child’s gate around the tree
- use a smaller tree & place it up on a table out of reach
For the gifts there was also a number of suggestions:
- one mom buys decorative boxes & uses packing tape
- many suggested not putting the gifts out until within a day or so
- use the playpen to put the gifts in
You can read all of the ideas here. What are your best ideas for safe & happy holidays?
Im a mum. I became a mum at 16 then again at 17. I lost my mum at 21yrs and had to rely on a very old mum for information who frightened the life out of my about the birthing process. As an Older mum now.in fact the grandmother of 8, I think it is my duty to help and advise my children and grandchildren whenever possible. Perhaps thats what is wrong with the youth of today. My children were brought up as I was brought up. That I should respect my elders at all times even if I didnt agree with them. Grandmothers can do a good job in helping to raise todays youngsters. When my grandchildren ring me to ask for help with homework its not oh I cant be bothererd but a little thrill goes down inside me to think my childrens childrens respect me enough to ask me to help with that very important question. If I dont know the answer I will go out of my way to find it. We were kids and because of the war had no one left to ask. Just our mum and Dad. Dads were at work and mums at home so it was mums that took the brunt . If I have 1 regret in my life it is that my mum did not live long enough to help me educate my children but as all my daughters are successful at what they do then I think mum must have been up there teaching me how to be a mum.regards mum you are doing a fine job
